Introduced as a “living example of resistance to hate,” Judge Nelson A. Diaz recounted his path from public housing in Harlem to becoming a leading political activist for the Puerto Rican community in Philadelphia at a talk hosted last week by Centro, the college’s center for Puerto Rican studies.
Freshman, alumni and super-seniors alike came to perform at The Olive Tree Review’s open mic night last week, presenting original poetry, excerpts of novels, songs and even a few freestyle raps.
The fall dance showcase cycled throughout the weekend and included interpretive dance, hip-hop and other blended forms of dance styles. Dance students wear multiple hats, going back and forth between performing pieces, changing for the next act, or running off stage left to the work the lights.
