Hunter USG’s ‘Purple PEERiod Project’ Distributes Free Menstrual Products to Students

Since 2018, Hunter Undergraduate Student Government volunteers have led the Purple PEERiod Project, handing out tampons and pads to students who need them. The project, funded by the Student Activity fee, was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic but relaunched during the Spring 2022 semester.

In the year since CUNY lifted its mask mandate, some students feel comfortable not wearing masks, while others still use the face coverings. Even in crowded spaces like the escalators in the North Building, more and more students are not masking.
