Hunter students took a break from studying and finishing up projects to relax and have fun at a carnival–themed “Finals Fever” event held in the West Building lobby last week hosted by The Office of Student Activities.
The carnival is hosted every year to allow students the opportunity to be on campus, but away from their books for a couple of hours. The most popular activity was designing airbrushed T-shirts; students were waiting in line for an hour for the opportunity.
The keychain photo booth was also a top favorite by the students, and the line was very long for the students to take pictures with their friends.
Another popular activity was building a bear, where students could choose from koalas, dogs, bears or foxes and then grab the stuffing according to the animal they choose and stuff away the fluffy organs.
Down the line there was also semi-permanent tattoos, popcorn, cotton candy, and just in time for the hot season, everyone’s favorite, the smoothie bar. Everyone raved about the strawberry–banana smoothie and piña coladas, and of course, they were virgin.
Students enjoyed an afternoon full of fun activities with their friends without spending a dime. Many stood in an hour and a half line to get their best facial features drawn by a cartoonist who worked on each student’s portrait for 4 to 5 minutes.
This event happens every semester during finals week, and many students look forward to this event.
“The students deserve it,” said student Holly Cruz “We go through a lot of hard work to get those As.”
Finals Fever did not end there; on May 6 and 7 the college The Office of Student Activities will host Stress–Free Zones, with massage therapists, games, and DIY projects.
