Food-insecure students are more likely to fall into lower GPA and lower completion categories.
“When you don’t have enough food to eat, you really can’t concentrate on academics or work if you’re working,” said Vanessa Fuentes on the link between CUNY students and food insecurity at a recent Roosevelt House event.
Students now have access to free food on the main campus. This is a part of a new initiative to fight food insecurity at CUNY.
About one in four CUNY undergraduates have limited access to affordable fruits and vegetables. The Fresh Food Box program fights food insecurity on campus.
