As we near the end of the year, it is a good time to reflect on how much you have changed. We interviewed Hunter students and asked them what they learned about themselves in 2024. Reflection is a positive thing as it promotes self-awareness and allows personal growth. Let’s see what our Hunter students said.
Tom Sayegh, 23, Media
“I learned to appreciate others by doing a lot of group activities [and] working with people in front of cameras.”
Daniel Urbina, 22, Film
“I learned to be very social. When I was a history major, no one spoke to each other, but with film, I’ve made so many connections and collaborations.”
Jasmina Ravshanova, Sophomore, Biology
“So basically, I like analyzed what toxic patterns I have, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to break those patterns…. I learned at first, but throughout the course of the semester I’ve been trying to break those patterns, so I’ve been putting in effort.”
Jon Nietes, 19, Film Production
“I have to focus a lot more on time management. Especially considering it’s finals week. I have to try to focus on that along with stuff at home and also personal projects since I am a film production major. Trying to maintain a calm mindset is something I know that I struggle with and something I have to do better.”
Celeste Morales, 27, Economics
“I learned that time management was one of my weaker skills, and that I needed to lock in if I wanted to be successful as a student and get my degree. Working full-time five days, and coming to school part-time was hard, and I had to figure out how to juggle both. I was already on autopilot at work, but now I have to dedicate specific time and focus towards my success in school and my studies. But I learned to take a little bit of time every day in order to stay sharp in my classes. And that’s what’s worked best for me.”
Michael Matute, 21, Psychology
“It’s always okay to give yourself a break and not to overstress on small things. You could still bounce back from it on the next exam, or other assignments that you could do.”
