{"id":811,"date":"2018-12-19T19:15:54","date_gmt":"2018-12-19T19:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brie.hunter.cuny.edu\/hunterathenian\/?p=811"},"modified":"2019-05-26T00:03:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-26T00:03:57","slug":"hunter-students-get-ready-for-winter-break-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brie.hunter.cuny.edu\/hunterathenian\/2018\/12\/hunter-students-get-ready-for-winter-break-not\/","title":{"rendered":"Hunter students get ready for winter break &#8212; not"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"End Of Semester VoxPop by Angela\" width=\"610\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F545429073&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=915&#038;maxwidth=610\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the fall semester comes to an end and exams wrap up, students here at Hunter seem to have one thing to look forward to during winter break: more work.<\/p>\n<p>Rakeem Nelson, a senior, is thinking about earning some extra money over the break.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just mixing in some interviews for job placements, \u2018cause I need a second job so I can go ahead and move out of my house!\u201d said Nelson.<\/p>\n<p>Like Nelson, Sarah Ahmed, a sophomore, is focused on her own hustle over the break and has set a few goals of her own. \u201cOver the break I\u2019m going to be working at my job more, but I also want to look for internships so I can get one over the summer,\u201d said Ahmed.<\/p>\n<p>And Jeff Baglobin, is going to try and find some type of happy medium, with work and a little fun. \u201cI\u2019m definitely going to take more hours at work, but I\u2019m going to try to spend a few weekends at my cousin\u2019s house in Jersey,\u201d said Baglobin.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s about more than just making some extra money over the break; David Serna, a senior, says he isn\u2019t going to have much time to relax in January, since he is going to be taking classes in the winter semester. And Cara Wisniewski is also taking a winter course but she is doing it through Hunter\u2019s study abroad program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m actually going to be taking my classes in Japan, so I\u2019m super excited about that!\u201d said Wisniewski.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Buocatos-Cortez is a full-time student and balances a part-time job at a pizzeria in Brooklyn, but she has different plants for this upcoming break.
