Finding a job as a college student can be an overwhelming task. Some jobs pay too little for too much commitment, require a long-distance commute, or clash with the student\u2019s class schedule. Fortunately, Hunter College provides a variety of student jobs that accommodate a rigorous academic lifestyle while allowing students to make some money on the side.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first place to refer to for job search help is the <\/span>Career Center<\/span><\/a> located in the East Building in room 805. The Center hosts helpful workshops every week of the semester. <\/span> Students can use these networking possibilities by getting acquainted with the Career Center and their services. They also provide personalized help with cover letters or resume writing.<\/span> \u201cWe also post department job postings on our website, Handshake,\u201d said Arterio Rodrigues, an IT specialist at the Career Center. <\/span>Handshake<\/span><\/a> is an online platform where employers can recruit college students. Rodrigues also says different departments throughout Hunter tell the career center when openings are available.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes, certain positions do not get posted at all and rely on personal recommendations as a hiring strategy. However, a few places at Hunter look to hire students every semester with accommodating work schedules.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s right here; I can go to it right after my class,\u201d said Mia Rothstein, a peer tutor at the Rockowitz Writing Center, about the convenience of an on-campus job. \u201cI feel like [the Writing Center] is more aligned with my academic interests and the path I want to go on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
