The play explores moments of sexuality, friendship and identity for 13-year-old girls.<\/p>\n<p>In its off-Broadway run, \u201cDance Nation\u201d caused a stir with its uncensored depiction of adolescence. Reviewers described the show as \u201cmuch weirder and darker than its subject matter\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2018\/05\/theater-review-the-wild-ambition-of-dance-nation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vulture<\/a>) but also as \u201ca delight to have your sense of reality completely thrown off several times\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/thewrap.com\/dance-nation-theater-review-no-one-ever-really-escapes-adolescence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Wrap<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis play is something like you\u2019ll never see, especially at Hunter College, especially at any university,\u201d said Talisa Velazquez, an actress in \u201cDance Nation\u201d and a junior studying Latin-American art and performance.
