Playstreets program starts soon

The Police Athletic League's Summer Playstreets Program will kick off on July 7.

Some streets will be closed off to traffic so kids can use them for fun and games this summer.

Officer from 41st Precinct honored for bravery

Deputy Inspector Philip Rivera, left, stands alongside Officer Juan Pichardo atht eh 41st Precinct on Longwood Avenue on June 10. Pichardo received an award for his courage earlier in the day, after turning the tables on four armed burglars last year.

Officer Juan Pichardo received an award for bravery for singlehandedly breaking up an attempted burglary while off duty in 2013, and at the same time wiping out a dangerous crime ring.


HPAC holds Book Bash

Hunts Point families enjoyed a visit from The Man in the Yellow Hat (HPAC ECE teacher, Anya Perret) and Curious George (HPAC Scholar, Anthony Muentes) at the Hunts Point Alliance for Children's first Book Bash on May 31st held at the Hunts Point Recreation Center.
