Nearly 10 years since their fight to restore a plot of land along the Bronx River, Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice along with The Point and the Southern Bronx River Watershed Alliance, finally rejoiced as their efforts developed into what is now known as Concrete Plant Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony on October 30th commemorated the official opening of the park in Hunts Point.

“We’ve been in this for so long, and you know why we struggle a lot and there are very, very few moments where we actually can kind of say ‘wow,’ said Alexei Torres-Fleming, executive director and founder of Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice

Members from The Point, Nos Quedamos and the Bronx River Alliiance joined Torres-Fleming at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
