Guidelines for Submissions

Since 1990, the Aronson Awards have honored original, written reporting that exposes widespread injustices, underlying causes, and possible reforms. This includes exposing discrimination based on race, class, gender, religion or sexual orientation; economic exploitation; violations of human rights, civil liberties or free expression; environmental degradation; and brutality to civilians in war.

The award recognizes original work published in English language newspapers, magazines, blogs and online publications based in the U.S.

Guidelines for Submissions

Journalism – must be original work published in English in 2017 in newspapers, magazines, blogs and online publications based in the U.S. Stories should have appeared in U.S. newspapers, magazines, newsletters or Internet publications.

Cartooning with a Conscience – must be political cartoonists whose work focuses on social issues and has been published English in newspapers, magazines, blogs and online publications.

Documentary – Open to IMA Graduate Students currently enrolled and those who have completed the program. There is no entry fee. Eligible submissions are documentaries completed in 2015 and 2017.
